After all, it was not so long ago that most cars had wind-up windows and the closest thing to Home Cinema was an oversized television looming out of the corner of the Drawing Room like some monolithic reject from Stone Henge. Today, it is hard to buy a car without electric windows and televisions now hang on walls, slim ever-changing pictures with a life of their own.
In decades gone past, the few domestic electronic appliances common to many homes were somewhat awkward to use: the humble video recorder has challenged many a tired person at the end of a long day. And as electronic solutions have become more prolific, the number of remote controls has only increased. It is the job of a Custom Installer to not only specify products that fulfil the design brief, but that are also easy to use. We find ourselves going to any lengths to ensure our clients experience many years of trouble-free enjoyment long after our engineers have left the building.
For over 9 years, Design Logistics have been designing and installing systems ranging from the simplest traditional stereo ‘Hifi’ to complex whole-house electronic infrastructures controlling everything from curtains to the heating, audio, video, lighting, satellite and other subsystems throughout the home. Our engineers, design and management staff have over 30 years of accumulated knowledge and experience. With a variety of manufacturer and procedural training filling a regular slot in our corporate timetable, we confidently bring a dedicated team of enthusiastic professionals to each project within our ever-growing portfolio.
For the logistical element of projects, we provide the design brief and specifications for both the systems already mentioned and any other electronic networks required to link your house to the outside world; from the elementary door entry system to more complex networks such as telecom & data and digital satellite & aerial distribution. We tend to wear a number of hats depending on the scale and scope of our projects; our electronic schematics are all colour-coded to make life easy for site electricians and we will design and administer the installation of the various cable networks throughout the duration of the project. In all cases we undertake the final fitting, programming and commissioning of the agreed electronic hardware and with the benefit of extendable warranties, will continue to service and adapt your installation for years to come.
In our experience, it is always preferable to have a direct link with the client or ‘end-user’. Since no two installations are the same, we need to be sure that we are recommending the right solutions and that we have accurately interpreted the design brief. In turn, this demands that we also work closely with the architectural, design and construction teams and by default remove from the client as much of the everyday hassle as possible. Just some of the issues commonly dealt with by a diligent Custom Electronic Designer might include-
